Permanent makeup, also known as intradermal micropigmentation is a method of applying natural or synthetic pigment into the dermal layer of the skin.  The inks I use are 95% natural pigment, made from food dyes, containing no metals.  Inks that contain metals can change color over time, which is what causes black pigments to turn a “greenish/blue” tint and browns to turn “pinkish/mauve”, which  you may have  seen in some older tattoos.

The decision to have permanent make-up is very personal and is something only you should decide for yourself.  Becoming informed about the procedure, and the natural healing process, will help you weigh the benefits as you decide if permanent make-up is for you.

Keep in mind, any permanent makeup procedure is a permanent mark of color on your face.  So, it is extremely important before choosing a technician, to do lots of research, and lots of ask questions.

Ask if they keep up with with continued education.  Do they have before and after pictures of their work?  Where do they operate their practice and determine for yourself if it is professional.  Ask how long they have been a permanent makeup technician.  Ask if they have referrals, and what kind of inks they use.  If they are hesitant about answering any of your questions, it would be best that you do not consider this person to do your permanent makeup procedures.

Once you are in a consultation with the prospective technician, evaluate the cleanliness of their office and workspace.  Ask if they use heat sterilization on all equipment or pre-sterilized disposable parts, which, in my opinion, are best.

Communicate to the technician the procedures you are interested in having done, making sure that you both have a clear understanding of what you want and, be willing to listen to their ideas.  A properly trained and experienced technician will advise you of what can and cannot be done.

Then ask yourself, did they listen and adequately respond to your questions and concerns and did you feel comfortable communicating with them?

Prices for a single procedure can range anywhere from $150 to $500 and even more.  Do not choose a technician based on price alone.  Base your decision on their competence and your confidence.
